I first met Mike Oliver in 2014 through the Stripers Online website as a result of his generous offer to host a two hand fly rod day on Cape Cod to introduce saltwater fly fishers to the benefits of using a two handed fly rods in the salt.

Mike, having a genuine passion for two handed rods, was very willing to share the knowledge he had accumulated over many years of fishing and developing his powerful two hand fly rod blanks needed to conquer the "outfront" weather conditions often found in Montauk and the Outer Cape.

The event was well attended to the extent I never did get a chance to cast one of Mike's rods but the information culled from that event and the observation of the first time two hand attendees easily casting significant amounts of line after 15 to 20 minutes of tutoring convinced me that Mike's rods were the solution for me. I purchased one of Mike's rods shortly thereafter and now his rod is my saltwater fly rod of choice. I now own two of Mike's rods and am extremely satisfied with their performance, allowing me to continue to fish tirelessly after many others have left the beach!
